I guess the moral of this story is, you have to wait, restart the Mac and VMWare a bunch, and in some magic timing, you will be able to get the correct approval to show up and get this working. I was able those nagging popups came once again and this time, when I clicked on Open, then actually opened and allowed the VM to run.
